This case provides a method for changing the phone number on a miHoYo Passport that isn’t registered under your own real name
Your streamer here counts as a miHoYo veteran (or at least used to); I created my account way back in the Honkai era. But I really was careless back then, and the real-name information I filled in wasn’t mine. I also genuinely didn’t know miHoYo doesn’t let you change real-name info, and that set the stage for all this
Around the start of this year, a friend wanted to borrow my old Genshin account to play (don’t laugh, your streamer really was a hardcore Genshin simp in 2020-21, though not anymore). Then when I went to log in, it hit me: oh no, the old phone number has long been out of use, and a password alone isn’t enough to log in. So I thought about filing an appeal, and the answer was that since the real-name info isn’t mine, appeals aren’t allowed — deadlock
It may also be because I filed appeals too many times: today while checking my email, I suddenly saw an email about a second appeal, as shown below

What a great opportunity. It was my own account anyway, and counts as personal property, so even though I don’t play miHoYo games anymore I should at least save it. So I downloaded 米游社 again and logged in with my email and password. It then asked me to bind a new phone number; of course it still wouldn’t let me change the real-name info, and then the rebinding went through

My personal guess is that my excessive appeals caused the account to be flagged as abnormal, miHoYo then put it under risk control, and that’s how this case came about. I also hope that after all these years, miHoYo will allow real-name information changes
